Players walk suspension tightrope ahead of Nedbank Cup Last 3202/02/2018
For the players from the 32 sides that will contest the first round of the Nedbank Cup, this weekend more than most is a time to stay on the right side of referees. Red cards, or a fourth yellow card of the season, will see players have to sit out the Nedbank Cup Last 32, not only weakening their teams but also robbing them of an opportunity to showcase their skills on a grand stage. Among the 24 teams from the top two tiers of South African football, only one, Royal Eagles, do not have any players on three yellow cards and so will just have to watch out for those reds to avoid suspension. But for the rest, there are some key players walking a tightrope and any miss-timed tackles could see them suspended.
These include former Nedbank Ke Yona Team graduate Aubrey Modiba, who has been a shining star for SuperSport United this campaign but must avoid a booking against Bloemfontein Celtic in their league clash on Saturday. If he gets one, he will miss the Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash away at the same opposition on February 11 having reached four yellow cards for the season, which results in an automatic one-game suspension. Here is a list of those players from the top-two tiers who are sitting on three yellow cards so far this campaign.
