Nedbank Cup Last 16 usually produced goals!12/03/2018
The Nedbank Cup Last 16 has often been a round fill with goals, with almost three per game netted since 2008, an above average number for any competition.
The latest installment will be played over the next six days, with the potential for the record to be broken as there are a number of top match-ups to look out for.
The most number of goals scored in the eight games in a single season is 28 in the 2016 campaign, the tally boosted by a 6-0 win for BidVest Wits over Magesi FC and a 3-3 draw between SuperSport United and University of Pretoria.
That is one more than the next highest tally of 27 in 2011, while the first two years of the Nedbank Cup in 2008 and 2009 saw 24 goals scored.
The lowest number of goals scored was 15 in 2012 when there were a number of tough match-ups in the Last 16 and only two games saw more than three goals scored.
