Nedbank Cup hopefuls Ajax bolster squad with Zwane signing

Ajax Cape Town will loan Nedbank Cup winner Siyanda Zwane from Mamelodi Sundowns as they continue to bolster their squad ahead of a Last 32 meeting with Orlando Pirates on February 10. Coach Muhsin Ertugral has been looking for an experienced right wing-back with the defensive and offensive qualities he is looking for, and had former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star Siboniso Gaxa training with the team. But when the opportunity to take Zwane for the rest of the season presented itself, he sees it has the best fit. This is a player that I have always loved, Ertugral said. I always believed in him, I have a smile on my face when a player like that is here.

He is the type of player that plays in the 60-metre zone in the channel, up and down. A great engine, hopefully he can fill in immediately there. Zwane could make his debut in a league clash against Pirates on Wednesday, but will certainly be on full throttle when the two clubs clash again in the Nedbank Cup in a fortnight. Zwane has already enjoyed success in the Nedbank Cup, lifting the trophy in 2015 with Sundowns when they beat, ironically, Ajax in the final in Port Elizabeth. He was unfortunately suspended for the final, but played every minute of the Brazilians' campaign prior to the decider.
