Ke Yona Team graduate Gwala relishing Nedbank Cup quarterfinal

Former Nedbank Ke Yona Team graduate Khanya Gwala will line up for what is arguably the biggest game of his career when his National First Division side Ubuntu Cape Town host Free State Stars in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Athlone Stadium.
Gwala was discovered by the Ke Yona selectors in 2014, the same year the likes of Aubrey Modiba, Sinawo Masana and Sandile Kubeka came through the ranks, and has enjoyed a solid professional career to date.
He has played for Cape Town All Stars, University of Pretoria (in the top-flight) and now Ubuntu Cape Town, and is looking forward to testing himself against Premier League Stars.
“They (Stars) are a difficult team to play against,” he told reporters. “But we have prepared well and we are ready. We are just going to focus on ourselves and on what we have to do.
“We have many quality youngsters in the squad, who are improving with every training session and with every game. The players have a great mentality, which is why we have to make sure that we create chances and that we don’t make any errors at the back.
“It has been a great learning season for us. But, despite that, it has also been a great season, in that we have people behind the scenes who inspire us, not just as footballers but with regard to life too. It is like a family at Ubuntu.”
