Eymael wants African qualification for Free State Stars17/05/2018
Free State stars coach Luc Eymael says winning the Nedbank Cup and qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup would be a major boost to the club and the players.
Stars tackle Maritzburg United in the decider of South Africa’s premier knockout competition at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday evening, with more than a trophy and glory at stake.
Belgian coach Eymael says while some clubs bulk at playing on the continent, for him it would be a great honour.
“I don’t know why people are complaining when they are playing in Africa,” he told reporters. “You know Champions League and Confederation Cup is the highest level, so do you complain when you are playing at the highest level? How can you not take this competition seriously?
“I will join Pitso [Mosimane, Mamelodi Sundowns coach] and say you are playing for your country. When you compete at a high level, and you see that with Sundowns, you are gaining maturity and experience and it can only help your national team.”
Tickets for the Nedbank Cup decider are available at TicketPro outlets nationwide, including Edgars, Edgars active, Edgars connect, Jet, Jet Mart, Postnet and CAN.
They are selling at R40 for adults and R15 for children under 12, and can also be purchased online at TicketPro (www.ticketpro.co.za).
Aside from the football, there will be plenty more entertainment on the day, with the match to kick-off at 19h00.
