Chairman praise for Maritzburg’s ‘milestone’ Nedbank Cup final

Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has spoken of the long journey that the club has travelled to reach their first cup final as they prepare for the Nedbank Cup decider against Free State Stars in Cape Town on May 19.
Maritzburg are in a way surprise finalalists with a young team and a rookie coach in Fadlu Davids, but they full deserve their place in the showpiece final after seeing off star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns in their semifinal on Sunday.
"This is a milestone for Maritzburg United. It's been a long journey. Fifteen years in the National Soccer League and our first cup final. It's full of emotions,” Kadodia said.

"I must thank the people, the fans. For 15 years, they have been behind us and they have built a brand. I must thank the coach, Davids; he has done a sterling job.

"I always believed in his abilities this season and I told him that we need to do something better than last season. What a benchmark.

"I think Fadlu and his technical team have done an excellent job with this team. The young team that we have, they have produced the best results."
Maritzburg will arguably be favourites for the final against a more experienced, but less dynamic Stars side.
