The Nedbank Cup, the premier knockout soccer competition in South Africa, also known as South Africa's FA Cup, kicked off in 2008 and the current sponsorship contract runs until 2017.
As a sponsor is firstly to provide a platform for teams and clubs from the South African Football Association (SAFA) ranks to compete with their peers from the National First Division and Premier League and secondly to provide an opportunity for soccer fans of all ages to come together and share in their passion.
This is the only cup competition in the country that addresses football development through the inclusion of professional and amateur teams. Through the Goals4Goals campaign Nedbank, in partnership with The Sports Trust, donated R1 million towards the building of a multipurpose sports court for a deserving school. An additional 100 schools across the country also receive soccer kits annually as part of Nedbank's soccer development initiatives.
